Once you have the 10+ stop filter on the lens you won’t be able to see a thing through the lens, so you have to make sure you have framed the picture correctly and figured out the exposure settings for taking a normal picture.

The picture below is the setup photograph I took to make sure I had the camera framed how I wanted it and the aperture was correct so that when I adjusted the shutter speed up ten stops I would have approximately 3 min exposure.

When you are happy with the composition of the photograph set your exposure to BULB and screw on your 10 stop filter, then set your exposure time on your shutter release and press the button. Now you have three minutes to kill so look around and take in the view and see if you can see any other oppotunites to make a picture.
